FREI-MUT finds its roots in Amsterdam and Berlin. Strongly influenced by architecture and key turnaround movements, such as the Bauhaus and the Cubist period.
Both periods had strong impact on the artistic and creative communities.
Clean lines, functionality and a no-nonsense approach.
FREI-MUT believes in practicality in a luxury sense. Aiming to develop and use the most tactile materials to be found, and use them in a more ‘worn in’ felted, dull manner. FREI-MUT refers to this as ‘Underground Luxury’ speaking more to the individual instead of the masses and created a community of craftsmen and artisans, mainly situated in Japan and Italy.
FREI-MUT is aiming for ultimate understated luxury, in the most comfortable sense, mostly
recognized and valued by the ‘connaisseur.
The true aim of the house is the experience
once wearing and becoming and individual
extension of its bearer.
